Barbican Cottage is in Middleham, right in the village. It's an old cottage, but it's been done up recently. You can park on the cobbles outside.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. The main bedroom is a good size with a king bed and you can see the castle from the window. The second room has a single bed and a pull-out bed, so it works for kids or another adult. The bathroom has a walk-in shower.
Downstairs is all open-plan: kitchen, dining, living area. It's practical. The floor is tiled and there are old beams. The kitchen has a dishwasher and washing machine. There's a TV and WiFi.
The best bit is probably the garden out the back. It's walled, south-facing, and quite private. You get a patio with seating. It's a nice spot.
Middleham is known for racehorses. You'll see them being ridden through the village most mornings, heading up to the gallops. The castle is literally just behind the cottage. There are a couple of pubs and a shop within a few minutes' walk.
For things to do, Leyburn is about ten minutes by car. They've got a chocolate factory and the Wensleydale Railway stops there. The Forbidden Corner, that odd attraction with all the follies, is about fifteen minutes away. If you like walking, you can start right from the door. The proper Dales scenery starts just outside the village.
You can bring one well-behaved dog. We provide all the bedding and towels. There's a cot and highchair if you need them.
