Penthwaite
Penthwaite is in Leyburn, right on the edge of the town. It's a detached stone cottage.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms and, usefully, three bathrooms, one for each room. It's a 5 Star place, which means it's well-finished and everything's quite new.
The main living space is open and has big windows looking out. The kitchen is large and modern. There's also a smaller snug off the kitchen if you want a bit of quiet.
All bedrooms are upstairs. They have sloping ceilings with Velux windows, which you open with a remote. The master and second bedroom have double beds. The third room has a cabin bed with a pull-out single underneath, so it's fine for two but better suited to kids. There's a small step from the second bedroom out to the side patio.
Outside, there's a terraced garden with furniture and a hot tub. The owner asks that you bring shoes for the short walk to the hot tub. Bath robes are provided.
You're about 200 yards from the centre of Leyburn. There's a weekly market, shops, cafes, and a couple of pubs. You can walk onto the Leyburn Shawl straight from the door for good views.
For days out, you're in a good spot. Middleham Castle is close. So are Aysgarth Falls and the waterfall at Hardraw. The Forbidden Corner is a short drive away in Coverdale. Richmond is about a 20-minute drive and has a proper castle and a nice river walk. The Yorkshire Dales National Park site has good information for walking routes.
The cottage has parking. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. It's listed as having some accessible features and a wheelchair-accessible entrance, but if that's important to you, please ask for specific details before booking. Up to two dogs are allowed.
