Brandy's Barn

Brandy's Barn is in Middleham. It's a single storey cottage converted from a barn. It's detached, and you can see fields from the windows. The kitchen, dining and sitting area are all in one open plan room. There are exposed beams.

It sleeps two. There's one bedroom with a kingsize bed. The shower room is between the bedroom and the boot room. The boot room is handy for wet coats or muddy boots after a walk. One well-behaved dog is welcome.

It has a 4 Star rating. The facilities are good. There's a washing machine, TV, and WiFi included. Bedding and towels are provided. There's parking right there, and an enclosed garden. You can store bicycles.

Middleham itself is a small village known for horse racing. There's a shop, a couple of pubs, and places to eat, all about a quarter of a mile away. The ruins of Middleham Castle are in the village. It's run by English Heritage and worth a look if you like history.

For walking, you can start right from the door. Footpaths go straight out into the fields and onto the moors. Leyburn is about three miles away. It's a market town with shops, a market on Fridays, and a train station on the Wensleydale Railway.

Within about half an hour you can get to a few other places. The Wensleydale Creamery in Hawes is where they make the cheese. Bolton Castle is near Leyburn. The Forbidden Corner, which is a sort of maze garden, is about four miles away near Coverham.
