Beech Cottage is in Carlton-in-Coverdale, a small village in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It's a proper stone cottage that sleeps five. There are three bedrooms upstairs and a family bathroom.
The lounge is small, cosy, and has an open fire. The kitchen and dining room are separate. The garden is enclosed, which is handy if you're bringing dogs. We allow up to two. You can hear the stream at the back from the garden.
The stairs are quite steep, as you'd expect in an old cottage. The bathroom has a shower over the bath, and the toilet is separate.
It's got a 4 Star rating. That means everything works and it's comfortable, but it's not a show home. It's just a nice, straightforward place to stay.
The local pub, The Forester's Arms, is a few minutes' walk away. It's got a good reputation. Middleham is about four miles away. That's where the castle is and a lot of the horse racing stables. Leyburn is five miles for shops and a market.
There are footpaths straight from the door. For a bigger day out, The Forbidden Corner is nearby. Richmond, Ripon, and Harrogate are all within an hour's drive.
Facilities include wifi, a TV, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are provided. There's a cot if you need it.
