The Owlery At Aysgarth

The Owlery is our barn conversion next door to our house in Aysgarth. It was built at the same time, back in the 1830s. It's detached, so it's just you out there. The garden has a view across the valley towards Swaledale.

It's set up for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 5 Star rating, which is good. It's been done up well inside.

You're right in the village. There's a pub and restaurant about 50 yards away. A shop at the licensed garage is 100 yards. The road here is quiet, it doesn't go anywhere else.

The footpath to Aysgarth Falls starts from the property. It's about half a mile across the fields. That path is part of the Coast to Coast Walk and the Herriot Way, so you can walk for miles from the door. Penhill is there if you want something steeper.

For driving out, Hawes is about six miles. That's where the Wensleydale Creamery is. Leyburn is five miles, they've got a good deli there. Bolton Castle is a few miles away, that's an interesting visit. You can get on the Wensleydale Railway at Leeming Bar, which is about a 20 minute drive.

The River Ure is good for fishing if that's your thing. The roads around here are popular with cyclists, especially when the Tour de Yorkshire comes through.

What's here: It's all on one level, open plan. There's parking right outside. WiFi, TV, towels and bedding are included. There's a shower. The garden is yours to use.
