Stable Cottage
Stable Cottage is in Askrigg, on a quiet lane just off the main street. It's an end-terrace place, built from stone like most around here. It sleeps six, in three bedrooms. There's one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped.
The living room is spacious, with a wood burner for colder nights. The kitchen is fine for making breakfast or a meal. Up half a flight of stairs there's a little galleried area with a chair and some books. It's a quiet spot. French doors lead out to the garden at the back, which is fully enclosed and has a lawn, a picnic table, and a barbecue.
The stairs are a bit steep and narrow, in keeping with the building. That's just how it is.
You're about two minutes' walk from the village shop. Next door to the cottage is a coffee shop that does good cakes. There are three pubs in the village, all serving food and local ales.
For walking, you can start right from the door. There are nice paths along the River Ure and a walk to the Askrigg waterfalls, Whitfield Force and Mill Gill Force. For a bigger day out, the Yorkshire Three Peaks start from Horton-in-Ribblesdale, about a 40-minute drive.
Within about half an hour's drive, you've got Aysgarth Falls and Bolton Castle. The market towns of Leyburn and Hawes are close by. The Forbidden Corner at Middleham is popular, especially with families. The historic town of Richmond, with its castle and theatre, is also about 30 minutes away.
In terms of what's here, the list is mostly accurate. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, TV, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. We have a cot, highchair, and stairgate available. You can bring up to two dogs.
