Stonesdale is in Hawes, up a slight hill on the edge of town. It's part of a small development, a mews house. You get the front patio and garden, and a little seating area out the back. The view from the front over the town and the hills is very good. You can see for miles.
It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, three bathrooms. Two of the bedrooms are master suites with their own bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's a well-finished place. The kitchen is solid, with a big range cooker and stone floors. The whole place is done to a high standard.
You're about five minutes walk from the Market Place in Hawes. That's where the shops, pubs, and cafés are. The Wensleydale Creamery is there too if you want to see cheese being made.
For walking, you can just step out the door. The Pennine Way goes right through Hawes. Hardraw Force, which is England's highest single-drop waterfall, is about a mile away. You pay a small fee at the Green Dragon pub to walk up to it.
Within about half an hour's drive you've got Aysgarth Falls, and the Settle to Carlisle railway line if you fancy a trip. For a bigger day out, the Yorkshire Dales National Park authority site has good information. The National Trust looks after places like Brimham Rocks and Malham Cove, which are also within reach.
Facilities: there's parking, WiFi, a washing machine, dishwasher, and a wood burner. It's listed as a luxury property. We allow two well-behaved dogs. A cot and highchair are there if you need them.
