Campanula House

Campanula House is in Askrigg, right opposite the church. It's a 17th century cottage, so you get the thick stone walls and old beams. It sleeps five. There are four bedrooms upstairs, but one is a twin and one is a single, so it's flexible. Two bathrooms, one is an en-suite.

The kitchen has an old inglenook fireplace with a wood burner. We've put in a central island and a big table, so it's a good space to cook and eat together. The stairs are cottage stairs, so they're a bit steep. We redid the living room a couple of years ago. It's at the back and looks onto the courtyard.

Outside is a small, enclosed courtyard. You can sit out there with a drink. It's private.

Askrigg is a quiet village. You've got a shop, a cafe, and three pubs all within a few minutes' walk. The pubs do food. The Yorkshire Dales Brewery is about a ten minute walk if you're that way inclined.

For walks, you can start straight from the door. The river and the waterfalls at Mill Gill are just up the lane. For a longer day, you can drive to Aysgarth Falls or into Swaledale. Hawes and Leyburn are the nearest market towns.

If you've got kids, the Forbidden Corner near Middleham is about half an hour's drive. It's strange and they tend to love it. Richmond is about 30 minutes away too, if you want a proper market town with a castle and shops.

Facilities: there's wifi, a washing machine, a dishwasher, and the wood burner. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a highchair and a stairgate. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
