Greystones Cottage

Greystones Cottage is in Simonstone, up in the Yorkshire Dales. It's an old stone barn that we converted. The views are good, straight out over the fields to Stags Fell.

Because it's an old building, bear in mind the main room upstairs has sloping ceilings where the roof is. You wouldn't want to whack your head. The stairs are wooden and a bit narrow.

It sleeps three. Two bedrooms and one bathroom downstairs. It's got the 3 Star rating, so it's clean and functional. We've just put a new kitchen in.

You've got a woodburner in the living room. There's a small garden area out the front with a table. It gets the sun in the morning.

The hamlet itself is quiet. The Simonstone Hotel is a few minutes' walk for a meal. For a proper shop or a choice of pubs, you need to go into Hawes. That's about three miles by car. They have the Wensleydale creamery there if you like cheese.

For walking, you can go straight from the door. There's a path through Shaw Gill Wood. It's damp underfoot in places but the waterfalls are nice. If you drive, you can get to a lot of the big Dales walks within half an hour. The Pennine Way crosses the road at Hawes.

Facilities are what you'd expect: parking, washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. Sorry, no pets.
