Red Squirrel Haven

Red Squirrel Haven is up in Snaizeholme, not far from Hawes. It’s a detached barn conversion, set away from things. The location is quiet. Very quiet.

The cottage sleeps four. There are two double bedrooms, each upstairs but on different sides of the building. They each have their own staircase. One has a shower room next to it, the other has windows looking out. There's a family bathroom downstairs too.

Downstairs is open plan. A kitchen, dining table, and living area with a wood burner. It’s heated by oil.

The main thing here is the wildlife. Red squirrels are in the woods opposite. There's a conservatory that looks right out at the feeding station. We leave food out for them and the birds. You see roe deer around too.

Outside is a decked area with a table, and an enclosed paddock beyond that. It’s proper dog-proof if you're bringing them.

It’s a 4 Star place, so it's well-equipped. It has a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There’s on-site parking.

You are a bit remote. The nearest pub or restaurant is about four miles away in Hawes. Hawes has got shops, cafes, the Wensleydale Creamery, and that's about it.

For walks, you can go right from the door. For a drive, Aysgarth Falls and Hardraw Force are about ten minutes away. Bolton Castle is maybe fifteen minutes. The Yorkshire Dales National Park site has walking routes. If you're heading further, Richmond or the Ribblehead Viaduct are within half an hour.
