Elm Cottage is in Oughtershaw. It's not a village, more a hamlet really. It's up in the very top of the Dales, right in the national park. It's an old house, about three hundred years old. You can tell by the walls.
It sleeps seven. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms, which helps. The stairs are steep and the doorways are low. Wear a hat, you might knock it off.
The garden is big and enclosed. It faces south so it gets sun most of the day. There's a patio with chairs and a BBQ. The garden looks over Oughtershaw Beck, which is the stream at the bottom of the field. You can hear the water.
Inside, there's a wood burning stove. It gets the room warm quickly. We provide the wood. There's a dishwasher and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. The WiFi is okay, but it's not super fast. It's the countryside.
The Dales Way path goes right past the front gate. The Pennine Way is nearby too. You can start walking from the door. For mountain biking, you're right in the middle of it.
The nearest pub is about four miles away. Hawes is about six miles. That's where the shops are. There's a cheese factory there, the Wensleydale Creamery. They do tours. There are a couple of museums in Hawes as well.
You'll need a car. Everything is a drive. But that's the point. It's quiet.
