Littondale

Littondale is a big stone house just outside the village of Litton. It's detached and sits on its own, so it's quiet. You get the garden and the patio. The house sleeps fourteen, which makes it good for a big family or a group. It's got six bedrooms and they all have their own bathroom, which helps with the morning queue.

Inside, it's clean and straightforward. The rating is 3 Star, which feels about right. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms work. Don't expect anything flashy, but it's all there. There's enough space for everyone not to be on top of each other.

The best thing is the view. You're in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, so you just see fells and fields out of practically every window. There's a footpath from the door. The river Skirfare is a five minute walk down the lane.

The local pub is about half a mile away. It's a proper walkable half mile along the road. Friendly. The nearest shop and restaurant are further out, about eight miles in Settle, so you'll want to bring your basics.

We're deep in walking country here. You can get to the Yorkshire Dales National Park trails straight from the house. For a day trip, Malham Cove and Gordale Scar are within half an hour. So is Ingleborough if you're up for a big walk.

Facilities: we've put in a dishwasher and a washing machine because you'll need them with that many people. WiFi is decent. Parking for four or five cars. You can bring one dog. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair.
