Wellside Cottage is in Starbotton, a very small place up in Wharfedale. It's an old stone cottage, end of a row, and it's listed. It was built in 1663, so the walls are thick and the doorways are low in places. You just sort of get used to ducking.
It sleeps five in three bedrooms. There's one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-kept. It's got a woodburning stove, which is nice in the evening. The WiFi works, but it's the countryside, so it's not super fast.
You get the whole garden to yourselves. It's south-facing, so it gets the sun. There are some soft fruit bushes, raspberries and things. If they're fruiting when you're here, help yourself.
The local pub is about 200 yards down the lane. They do food and local beers. For a shop, you'd drive to Kettlewell, which is a couple of miles. They've got a village shop and a few pubs there too.
You're right in the middle of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The footpaths start practically from the door. Grassington is about nine miles for more shops and cafes. Skipton, with the castle and the market, is a bit further, maybe a 25 minute drive.
For facilities, it's got what you'd need: washing machine, dishwasher, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking for one car right outside. You can bring one dog. We've left some board games and things in case the weather turns.
If you're planning days out, the National Trust look after some of the big houses and valleys around here. They've got good information on their site.
