Foss Gill
Foss Gill is in Starbotton, which is a small hamlet in Upper Wharfedale. It's a stone cottage from the 1750s. You're right on the edge of the village, looking out at the fells.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean, not luxurious. The living room has an open fire. We supply a basket of logs to get you started. The stairs are steep, like most old cottages.
There's a pub about a hundred yards away. They do food. The nearest shop for groceries is in Kettlewell, which is about a mile and a half down the road.
You're in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The footpath up the valley starts practically at the door. Grassington is about nine miles away for more pubs and shops. Skipton is a bit further, maybe twenty-five minutes by car. That's where you'll find the castle, the canal, and a supermarket.
For things to do, the National Park website is useful. They have walking routes and event listings: Yorkshire Dales National Park. The National Trust looks after a few big estates nearby too, like Malham.
Facilities: it has a washing machine, dishwasher, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There is parking for one car on the drive. You can bring up to two dogs.
