Harriet's Cottage is in Muker, in Swaledale. It's up the hill a bit from the village green, so you get good views from the windows.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs, one double and one twin. One bathroom. It's a 4 Star place, which means it's comfortable and well looked after. It's warm, which is good because it can be windy up here.
The kitchen and carpets were new last year. There's a wood burning stove in the living room. The floor in the hallway is the original stone flags, so it's a bit uneven. You get used to it.
Out the front there's a small garden with a bench. You can sit there and look at the fells.
Everything you need is a short walk away. There's a good pub that does food, a village shop for basics, and the Muker Wool Shop is famous round here. You really don't need the car much if you're here to walk.
The footpaths start right from the village. You can walk to Keld, Thwaite, Gunnerside, all over. For cycling, there's a bike hire place in Fremington, which is a few miles down the road.
If you do drive, Hawes is about 15 minutes. That's where the Wensleydale Creamery is. Richmond is about 40 minutes, which is a proper market town with a castle. The National Trust Yorkshire and Yorkshire Dales National Park sites have good information for planning walks.
Facilities: there's parking, a washing machine, WiFi, and a TV. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. No pets, sorry.
There's also Lilac Cottage next door if you know another couple who want to come along. They can be booked together.
