Alpine Cottage

This is Alpine Cottage in Carperby. It's a detached stone cottage right in the middle of the village, so you're on a proper village street. It's got a good-sized, enclosed garden to the side, which is nice if you've brought a dog.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms, which is handy. One twin bedroom is downstairs, with a door straight into the garden. The other is upstairs with a king-size bed. Both bathrooms have a shower, one over a bath and one in a cubicle.

Inside, it's been done up to a high standard. It's comfortable and clean, with a wood burner in the living room. The kitchen is a good size with patio doors. The stairs up to the main bedroom are standard cottage stairs, so they're a bit steeper and narrower than in a modern house.

You're right in Wensleydale. Aysgarth Falls and Bolton Castle are a walk away if you're up for it, or a very short drive. The village pub is about a two-minute walk. It's a proper local, they do food.

Hawes is about ten minutes by car. That's where the Wensleydale Creamery is, if you like cheese. Leyburn and Middleham are close too. You can often see the racehorses from Middleham training on the gallops. The Forbidden Corner, that odd place with the follies and tunnels, is just down the road near Coverham.

For a wider day out, you can get to the top of Swaledale or over to Richmond in under half an hour.

Facilities: it's got parking, wifi, a washing machine, a dishwasher, the wood burner, and all bedding and towels are included. You can bring one well-behaved dog.
