Curlew Barn is in Ulshaw, near Middleham. It's a stone barn, detached, in the middle of a field. You get the whole place and the garden to yourselves. It's quiet.
The barn is for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's all on the ground floor. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's done up well. There's a wood burning stove that heats the whole place. The floor has underfloor heating too.
The kitchen and living room are open plan. There's a dishwasher and a washing machine. The bedroom has an old stone wall that's been exposed. The view from the window is just fields.
There's a patio outside with a table and chairs, and a barbecue. You can park two cars right next to it.
Middleham is about a mile and a half walk down the lane. It's a proper racing town. You'll see the horses being led through the streets in the morning. There are a few pubs there that do food, and a shop. The castle ruins are worth a look. Middleham Castle.
From the barn door, you can walk straight onto the footpaths. One goes along the river behind the property. Another goes across the fields to Jervaulx Abbey, which is about a 40 minute walk. The abbey ruins are in a garden, and there's a tea room.
By car, the Forbidden Corner is about ten minutes away. It's a strange garden with follies and tunnels. You need to book. Leyburn is about five miles for more shops. For a bigger walk, the Yorkshire Dales start pretty much on the doorstep. Yorkshire Dales National Park.
You can bring one dog. Bedding and towels are included. There's wifi and a TV.
