Myton House

Myton House is in Thornton Steward. It's a big farmhouse from the 1700s. It's detached and you're in the middle of fields. The Wensleydale valley is right there.

It sleeps nine, which is a lot. Four bedrooms, three bathrooms. Two of those bedrooms and a bathroom are on the ground floor. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean but not a show home. The doorways are a bit low – you'll need to mind your head in a couple of spots. It's on one level at the back but there are steps up to the front door.

There's a woodburning stove in the main living room. The kitchen has a dishwasher and there's a washing machine. The garden is big and enclosed. Bedding and towels are included. Parking for three or four cars.

The village is quiet. You'll need a car. The nearest shop and a couple of pubs are in Wensley, about two miles away.

For walking, you're right on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Aysgarth Falls and the Bolton Castle estate are close by. Masham is about ten minutes in the car, that's where the Black Sheep and Theakston breweries are. Middleham with its castle is about fifteen minutes.

Further out, within half an hour or so, you've got Leyburn, Richmond, and the Forbidden Corner at Laskill. The coast at Whitby or Scarborough is over an hour.
