Park Farmhouse

Park Farmhouse is in Chideock, right on the coast road. It's a thatched place from about 1750. It sleeps a lot of people, up to eighteen. There are nine bedrooms and seven bathrooms. The main house has two living rooms and a big dining table that seats everyone. Next door there's an old creamery that's been done up into an annexe with another two bedrooms. It's got exposed stone walls.

Because it's an old farmhouse, you've got to watch your head on some of the beams. The floors slope in parts. I think that's part of the character. The stairs are normal but they are proper cottage stairs.

The garden looks out over fields and hills. There's an indoor swimming pool and a games room, which is good if the weather turns. You can bring up to three dogs.

It's right in the village. There's a pub and a restaurant about fifty yards away, just a couple of doors down. The shop is a few minutes' walk. A really good farm shop is about a mile away. They have outside seats with a view of Golden Cap.

The coast is less than a mile away at Seatown. It's the Jurassic Coast, so you can look for fossils. Lyme Regis and West Bay are a short drive. Lyme Regis has The Cobb harbour and plenty of places to eat. Bridport is close by for bigger shops.

For walks, the South West Coast Path is on your doorstep. There's a walk that goes right around the farmhouse in Julia Bradbury's walking book. Golden Cap is the highest point on the south coast and it's owned by the National Trust.

Things you might need to know: bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair. There's parking on site. There's WiFi. It's got a 4 Star rating.
