The Retreat

The Retreat is in Loders, a village a couple of miles inland from Bridport. It's a detached, thatched barn conversion. It's old and listed, so the walls are thick and the rooms feel solid.

It sleeps ten people. Five bedrooms, four bathrooms. That's the main thing, really, it means big groups don't have to queue. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and well-equipped, not just basic.

Outside, there's a lawned area and a patio that's yours to use. The views are over fields. It's quiet.

Inside, there's a games room. It's got table football and a pool table. It's handy if the weather turns. For facilities, you've got the usual: dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, and parking for a few cars on the drive. Bedding is included. We can provide a cot and highchair.

The beach at West Bay is about three miles away. You can drive it in ten minutes. Bridport town is close, they have a good market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. West Bay itself has the harbour and you can get fishing trips from there. The coast path starts there too. For a longer walk, you can head towards Golden Cap. It's the highest point on the south coast.

Further afield, Lyme Regis is about twenty minutes by car. Dorchester is half an hour. Weymouth is about the same.

No pets, I'm afraid.

If you're planning walks, the National Trust for Dorset site is useful. For the official coast path and countryside information, Dorset Council Countryside has good maps.
