Applewood Cottage is in Walditch. It's a small village just outside Bridport. The cottage itself is a Grade II listed building, so it's old. That comes with a few things you should know. The doors are low in places. The stairs are steep. The floors lean a bit. If you're very tall, you'll need to mind your head. But it's solid, and it's been looked after.
It sleeps four. There are two bedrooms upstairs and one bathroom on the ground floor. It has a 3 Star rating. It's clean and comfortable, but it's not a show home. It's a cottage.
You get the whole place to yourselves, including the enclosed garden at the back. It looks out over fields. There's a wood burning stove for cooler evenings, and a barbecue. Everything you'd need for a week is there, like a washing machine and wi-fi. Bedding and towels are included.
The location is the main thing. You're about a mile from Bridport, which has proper shops, a market, and places to eat. West Bay is two and a half miles away. That's the coast. You can walk there if you wanted, or it's a five minute drive. The cliffs and the harbour are there. It's good for fish and chips.
From West Bay, you're right on the South West Coast Path. The walking is dramatic. It's the Jurassic Coast, so the cliffs are full of fossils. Lyme Regis is about half an hour's drive west. Weymouth is about forty minutes east. Inland, you've got places like Kingston Lacy or Hardy's Cottage if you like that sort of thing.
There's no shop or pub in the village itself. The nearest are about a mile and a half away in Bridport. That's easy by car. No pets, sorry.
