The Old Tithe Barn

The Old Tithe Barn is on our working farm in Litton Cheney. It's a big, old stone barn from the 13th century, so the walls are thick. We've done it up so a large group can stay.

It sleeps nineteen. Nine bedrooms, all with their own bathroom. So no queues in the morning. Each bedroom has a TV too.

The main room is the old barn itself. It's got a high, beamed ceiling. It feels big. The kitchen is large enough for everyone to help out. There's a dishwasher and a washing machine.

The stairs to the mezzanine are quite steep, just so you know.

Outside, there's an enclosed garden. There's a games room with a pool table. There's also a two-acre fishing lake on the farm if you want to try for roach or tench.

The village pub is about four hundred yards down the lane. They do food. The nearest shop is in Bridehead, about three miles.

You're very close to the coast here. Chesil Beach at Burton Bradstock is less than ten minutes by car. West Bay is about ten minutes the other way. The whole Jurassic Coast is on your doorstep for walking. Abbotsbury is nearby, with its swannery and subtropical gardens.

Further afield, within half an hour you can get to Weymouth, Dorchester, Lyme Regis, or the Tank Museum at Bovington. Portland Bill is about twenty minutes.

Practical things: all bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair. You can bring up to three dogs. There's plenty of parking right outside. There's also a self-service bar area in the barn, which groups tend to like.

Useful links for planning: National Trust Dorset and the official Jurassic Coast site.
