Churchview House
This is Churchview House. It's in Winterbourne Abbas, which is a small place near Dorchester in Dorset. The house is about 300 years old and was a guest house before. It’s on the main road into the village, so you’ll see and hear some traffic.
It sleeps seventeen people. There are nine bedrooms and nine bathrooms, so eight of the rooms have their own shower and toilet, and the ninth has a bathroom right next door. There’s a big dining area and two separate living rooms, both with open fires you can use.
The rating is 4 Star. It’s a big, practical house for a large group. It’s clean and comfortable, but it's an old building. The stairs are normal house stairs.
You’ve got a good-sized enclosed garden. There’s parking on the drive. The kitchen has a dishwasher and a washing machine. We provide bedding and towels. You can bring up to two dogs. We’ve got a cot, a highchair, and a stairgate if you need them.
There’s a pub about a five minute walk away. The nearest shop and restaurant are a couple of miles away in Dorchester.
You’re right on the edge of the Jurassic Coast. Chesil Beach is about five miles, a ten minute drive. Weymouth beach and the Sea Life Centre are about twenty minutes away. You can get to places like Corfe Castle, Lulworth Cove, or the Tank Museum at Bovington within half an hour.
For walks, the coast path is obvious, but there’s good inland walking too. The National Trust has several properties nearby like Hardy’s Cottage.
