Linden Lea
Linden Lea is a cottage near Southover, up in the hills. It’s a proper countryside spot. The view from the garden is just fields and trees. It feels quite private.
It sleeps four people. Two bedrooms, both doubles. One bathroom. It’s got a four-star rating. It’s comfortable and clean. The living room has a woodburning stove. The stairs are a bit steep.
The kitchen has the basics. There’s a washing machine and a cot if you need it. All bedding and towels are included. The garden is enclosed, so it’s fine for dogs. You’re allowed two pets.
You can walk straight from the door. There are paths and bridleways all around. The local farmer keeps pygmy goats in the field next door. The kids usually like that.
For big beaches, you need to drive. West Bay is about nine miles away. That’s where the sand cliffs are. You can walk along the beach or the clifftop path there.
If you go the other way, towards the Purbecks, you can get to Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove in about half an hour. Corfe Castle is in that area too. Dorchester is the nearest town, about four miles. It’s got supermarkets, shops and places to eat.
If you’re looking for things to do, most of the coast here is part of the Jurassic Coast. It’s worth checking the National Trust site for ideas on walks and places to visit.
The WiFi works. There’s parking for one car on the gravel next to the cottage.
