Carpenters Cottage is in Upwey, which is a village on the edge of Weymouth. It's one of a pair, built next to Blacksmith's Cottage, on what was my grandfather's workshop. They were new-built in 2018.
It sleeps four in two bedrooms. One bathroom with a shower. It has a 4 Star rating. Everything is clean and works. The rooms are a decent size.
From the front you get a view over fields. There's a pub about 500 yards up the road that does food. A shop is three miles away in Weymouth.
Weymouth itself is about four miles. It's got the big sandy beach and the harbour. It's on the Jurassic Coast, so for a day out you've got Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove within about half an hour's drive. Chesil Beach is close too.
The area is good for walking. You can get a bus from the village into Weymouth if you don't want to drive.
Inside there's a washing machine, dishwasher, TV, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. Parking is on site. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
You can book it together with Blacksmith's Cottage next door if you're a larger group.
For planning, the National Trust Dorset site lists places like Corfe Castle. For the coastline, the Jurassic Coast Trust site is useful.
