The Old Post Office

The Old Post Office is in Lower Bockhampton, a quiet hamlet near Dorchester. It's a thatched cottage, Grade II listed. The thatch means the ceilings are low inside, just so you know.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating. It's comfortable, not posh. There are a lot of books.

You get the garden to yourselves. There's a summerhouse too, which is handy if it rains. You can park on site.

The cottage is old, so the stairs are steep and some doorways are low. It's part of the place. Thomas Hardy wrote about this hamlet, and his own cottage is a walk away through the woods.

There's a pub about a mile down the lane. Dorchester is a couple of miles for shops. The walk along the River Frome path into town is nice.

You're close to the coast here. Weymouth and its beach are about seven miles. The Jurassic Coast is a short drive. Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door are perhaps twenty minutes. For a day out, the National Trust has Corfe Castle and other places nearby.

Facilities: there's WiFi, a TV, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. Bedding is included. One well-behaved dog is allowed.
