The Gatehouse is in Hooke, Dorset. It's a single-storey bungalow, detached. Part of an old educational complex, but it's separate. You get your own garden.
It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, five bathrooms. Three are shower rooms, two are en-suite bath and shower rooms. The main living area is open plan: kitchen, dining, and sitting room all together.
It's got a 3 Star rating. It's clean and spacious, not high-end. Everything's on one level, so no stairs to worry about.
The property looks out over a lake used for coarse fishing. You can fish if that's your thing. There are also extensive shared gardens around the moated manor house you're welcome to walk in.
Hooke is rural. The nearest shops, pubs, and restaurants are in Beaminster, about three and a half miles away. Bridport and Lyme Regis are each about a twenty-minute drive. Lyme Regis has the Cobb harbour. The Dorset World Heritage Coast and Chesil Beach are within easy reach.
Abbotsbury Swannery is about twenty minutes by car. Weymouth, with its Sea Life Centre, is about forty minutes.
For walking, the Wessex Ridgeway is right there. The National Trust Dorset page is good for planning coastal trips. You can also look at the Dorset National Landscape site.
Facilities: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, TV, barbecue, and parking on site. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot available. No pets, sorry.
