Market View is an apartment in Ashbourne, right on the market square. You're in the middle of things, so if you want total quiet all the time, it's not that.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms, which is useful with that many people. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's well kept and comfortable. You get in through your own door on the ground floor, but the living space is on the first floor. It's upside down, so the bedrooms are on the floors above. The stairs are normal, not steep.
From the lounge you look out over the square. It's good for people-watching when the market's on. There's a decent kitchen with a table. We provide all the bedding and towels.
Ashbourne's a proper market town. There are shops, cafes, and pubs a few steps from the door. You don't really need the car if you're just staying put. The town is famous for its Shrovetide football game, which is basically a huge, historic street match. It's chaotic.
You're right on the edge of the Peak District. Dovedale and the stepping stones are about a ten-minute drive. It's a classic walk, can get busy on weekends. The Peak District National Park site has good route ideas. The Tissington Trail starts close by for cycling or walking.
Within half an hour you can get to places like Bakewell, Matlock, and Buxton. Bakewell's for the pudding, Matlock has the Heights of Abraham cable cars, and Buxton's got the opera house. Ilam Park is nearby and it's nice for a gentle stroll.
If you've got kids to entertain, Alton Towers is about a 25-minute drive.
You can bring up to two dogs. There's no private garden, but the square is there and the countryside is close. There's a TV and WiFi. Parking is on-street, you'll need a permit which we provide.
