Capercaillie Glamping Pod
Capercaillie Glamping Pod is on Oakwood Caravan and Camping Park, just outside Aviemore. It's a single pod for three people. You get two bunk beds, which are both doubles. It sleeps three adults, really, not just kids.
It's got a Three Star rating. That means it's clean and functional. You've got a small kitchen area with an electric hob, and a small shower room. There's a folding table inside. Outside, there's decking with a table and chairs, and a storage box.
We allow one dog. The site has a children's play area. It's a working campsite, so there will be caravans and other pods around, but the pod is detached so you have your own space.
Aviemore village is a couple of minutes' drive for shops and cafes. You're right on the edge of the Cairngorms. For walking, Rothiemurchus Estate is practically on the doorstep. Loch an Eilein is about ten minutes away by car, it's a good walk around the loch.
For a bigger day out, the Cairngorm Mountain base station is about a fifteen minute drive. You can get the funicular railway up when it's running. Kingussie, where the Highland Folk Museum is, is about twenty minutes south. The ski centre at the Lecht is around forty-five minutes.
Facilities-wise, all bedding and towels are included. There's parking right next to the pod. There's no oven, just the hob, so plan meals accordingly. The storage box outside is useful for boots and walking gear.
