Uaine Cottage is in Aviemore, just off a quiet lane near a bend in the River Spey. It's a detached house, so no neighbours through the walls. The back garden is enclosed, with mature trees around it so it feels quite private. There's a patio, table and chairs, and a charcoal BBQ.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one double and one twin. There's one bathroom with a shower over the bath. It was all refurbished a few years ago, so it's in good nick. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped.
The Stove is the main heating, so you'll need to get that going when you arrive. We leave fuel for you. There's a separate toilet downstairs, off the hallway. The stairs are a standard staircase, nothing unusual.
Aviemore centre is about a ten minute walk away. There's a footpath that cuts through, so you can leave the car. There are pubs, restaurants, a couple of supermarkets, and outdoor shops all there.
You're right in the Cairngorms National Park. For walking or biking, you can drive up to the ski centre car parks in about 15 minutes and start from there. Loch Morlich is about 7 miles away; it's got a big beach and you can hire watersports kit. In the winter, the skiing and snowsports are on your doorstep.
If you want to explore further, Inverness is about half an hour south by car. The steam railway goes from Aviemore to Broomhill, near Boat of Garten. The Speyside Way walking route passes close by if you’re after a long-distance path.
Practical things: we can take up to two dogs. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair in the cupboard under the stairs. Parking is on the drive for two cars. You've got WiFi, a washing machine, and a dishwasher.
