Stag's Hide is in Aviemore. It's a detached cottage, set back from the road. You're surrounded by trees and fields. You'll see deer, pheasants, squirrels. After a day or two you stop noticing them, then you look up and there's another one.
The cottage sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's a 5 Star place, which means it's well-kept and has good quality things. One bedroom has a super-king bed that can be split into two singles if you need it. The bathroom is a wet room with a walk-in shower.
The main room is open plan: kitchen, dining, sitting area. It's compact but it works. There's a wood burner, which is great for warmth and for drying boots. The kitchen is modern and has a dishwasher. There's underfloor heating too, so it's never cold.
You can walk to the centre of Aviemore in about 20 minutes. It's along the road, so you'll need a torch if it's dark. For skiing, the Cairngorm Mountain centre is about a ten minute drive away. You can see the runs from the door on a clear day.
There are plenty of walks right from the door. The Old Military Road goes past. Loch Alvie is a nice 20 minute walk through the trees. For something louder, the zipwire park is a few minutes down the road.
The cottage is old, from around 1909. It was built for a gamekeeper. The stairs are cottage stairs, so they turn and are a bit steep.
Facilities: there's a washing machine, a cot and highchair if you need them, bedding and towels are included. There's parking. One well-behaved dog is allowed.
