This place is called Lower Lochturffin. It's near Treffynnon, in Pembrokeshire. It's a renovated barn, or two barns joined together by a big glass living room in the middle. The roof has turf growing on it.
It sleeps six people, in three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms. It's rated Five Star, which means everything is good quality. It's warm, with underfloor heating in every room.
You get seven acres to yourselves. The drive from the gate down to the cottage is about a quarter of a mile long and lined with trees.
A large part of that land is a private nature reserve with two small lakes and a meadow with a pond. It's fenced off from the cottage garden, but you're allowed in there for walks. Children need watching near the water. They're about a hundred yards from the house.
The main living room has glass walls on two sides, so you look straight out into the garden. There's a patio with a barbecue and sun loungers, and the sunsets from here are very good.
It's very quiet and private. People tend to come back, which is nice.
Inside, there's a woodburning stove, a dishwasher, a washing machine, and WiFi. We leave a picnic backpack and a guidebook we put together with local tips.
The nearest coast is about a twenty minute drive. The Pembrokeshire beaches are all along there. Good ones for families are Newgale or Whitesands. For castles, you've got Picton Castle or Carew within half an hour. The city of St Davids is about forty minutes away.
