Surrounded by the foot hills of Exmoor, The Paint Box is for those seeking the quiet and tranquillity this untouched area of the world offers. This semi-detached bungalow, next to the owners’ home, is ideal for a couple or for a young family wanting to explore Exmoor and on towards North Devon’s dramatic coastline. Inside is a well presented interior with original artworks from the owner. Outside, the wrap around garden offers guests views of the countryside and is perfect for morning coffee or an afternoon drink. Owing to Exmoors ’Dark Sky’ status, gazing up the stars on a clear evening will offer unrivalled views of the heavens.
There are numerous walks in the area to suit any ability. The nearby village of North Molton has a well-stocked local shop and pub, whilst the larger town of South Molton has a good range of shops and local amenities, and a bustling market. If painting is a hobby or of interest, the owner offers painting tuition and this can be arranged direct with the owner prior to your holiday.
Up on the moor, highlights include the pretty village of Withypool and the famous and ancient Tarr Stepps. Summit Exmoor’s highest point at Dunkery Beacon and pop into Dulverton for an afternoon cream tea. Up towards the coastline, there is the dramatic steep cliffs at Countisbury. In the Victorian towns of Lynton and Lynmouth there is plenty to see and do, and the two towns are connected by the famous cliff railway.
Other local attractions include the Valley of the Rocks and there is also access to the South West Coast Path. If beaches are your thing, head up to Woolacombe, Putborough and Croyde. Here you will be able to enjoy some of the best beaches in the country with surfing and rock pooling available. For those with young ones, Exmoor Zoo, Combe Martin Wildlife Park and Watermouth Castle all provide an interesting and entertaining day out. There are National Trust properties at Arlington and Knighthayes. Golf, fishing, cycling and Land Rover safaris across the moor are all available locally. Beach 15 miles.
