The Old Orchard
The Old Orchard is a lovely spacious, light and airy detached house with a large enclosed and private mainly laid to lawn garden with two patios, one raised benefiting from views of the coast – the perfect place for a peaceful morning coffee or evening drink. Westward Ho! and Appledore are less than 5 minutes by car and Instow just 10 minutes.
Sleeping 10 people in 5 bedrooms on the first floor including two kingsize with one having an additional single bed and 2 standard doubles, plus a single room. There’s a bright and modern family bathroom too. On the ground floor you’ll find two living rooms divided by French doors, both with Smart TVs and one with a cosy wood burner. There’s a separate dining room with Patio doors leading out to the garden and a fitted kitchen. There’s also a handy downstairs shower room with WC. Parking is on the road just outside and there’s a free village car park just around the corner.
With ample space to relax and unwind, this is the perfect property for an amazing family or friend’s holiday. Northam is a small market town with various amenities just north of Bideford, the 2nd largest town in North Devon which itself has plenty to see and do with a lovely river front and port, which was once Britain’s 3rd largest. Beaches, such as Westward Ho! and Instow are firm favourites locally and are within easy reach by car and the Southwest Coastal Path is a must for keen walkers & runners as is the popular Tarka Trail, which can be accessed close by. It provides the unique opportunity to follow a disused railway line by foot or bicycle, allowing you to enjoy some of Devon’s finest countryside and river views.
Swimming, surfing, canoeing and other outdoor activities are available at nearby Skern Lodge outdoor activity centre. For a day with a difference why not take a trip across to Lundy Island? With regular trips from Bideford, you can enjoy the home to England’s first statutory Marine Nature Reserve, due to its unique flora and fauna. Measuring just 3 miles by ¾ mile, this entire island has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Westward Ho!, the nearest seaside village offers an array of amenities including some fascinating curiosity shops and a range of restaurants and cafes. If golf is your thing then be sure to visit the Royal North Devon Club, founded in 1864 and is the oldest golf course in England! Also not far from the property are 2 top attractions, The Big Sheep amusement farm park and if you fancy some high ropes, wall climbing, surfing or even a spot of coasteering, The Ultimate Adventure Centre is the place to visit! The beaches are a main attraction for many with surfer-friendly Westward Ho! and slightly further afield, award winning Saunton Sands, Woolacombe & Croyde are also a must for your itinerary. Being very close to the A39 Atlantic Highway, Bideford is conveniently located for day trips to other beautiful places such as Exmoor National Park with stunning dark skies for great star gazing & locations such as Clovelly, Hartland and North Cornwall.
