Russet Yurt
Russet Yurt is in a field on our smallholding just outside Melplash. It's exactly what it says it is: a yurt.
It sleeps four, with two bedrooms inside the yurt itself. One has a superking bed, the other has bunk beds. The bathroom is in a separate little building a few steps away. It's a proper bathroom with a toilet, sink and shower. The kitchen is also separate, about ten metres from the yurt door. It's in a shared barn, but it's your own designated kitchen space with everything you need.
You've got your own decking area with furniture and a firepit. The yurt has a wood burner inside. We supply the first basket of logs.
There are two lakes on the land. You're welcome to swim in them. They're not heated, just natural. There's also an orchard you can walk through.
The local pub, The Marquis of Lorne, is about a fifteen minute walk down the lane. They do food. We sometimes do wood-fired pizza evenings here on site for an extra charge, if we're around and the weather's good.
The Jurassic Coast is about half an hour's drive. Charmouth and Lyme Regis are good for fossil hunting. Bridport is closer, about ten minutes in the car, for supermarkets and a weekly market.
For attractions, the National Trust has a lot of places nearby like Hardy's Cottage. The Dorset National Landscape website is good for walking routes.
Facilities: bedding and towels are included. There's parking right by the yurt. We accept up to two well-behaved dogs. There's no TV or Wi-Fi in the yurt. You can sometimes get a mobile signal outside.
