Cracken Cottage is here in Chinley. It's on a main road, so you get the church and the shops and the station close by. The trade-off is some traffic noise, but you're right in the middle of things.
It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's been done up well, it's comfortable. The stairs are a standard staircase, not too steep. The kitchen has underfloor heating, which is nice in the winter.
You're allowed two well-behaved dogs. There's a patio garden out the back. It's enclosed, but not huge.
Chinley's got what you need. There's a shop, a couple of pubs that do food, and a wine bar in the building next door. The train station is about three minutes' walk. You can get to Manchester in 40 minutes or so, which is handy if you fancy a city day.
For getting outside, you're right on the edge of the Peak District. You can walk up onto Chinley Churn straight from the door. For a drive, Lyme Park is about 25 minutes, and The Roaches are about half an hour. The Longshaw Estate is similar, maybe 35 minutes. Good for walking.
Facilities: it's got WiFi, a Smart TV, a log burner, a dishwasher, and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them.
