Shallcross Hall Cottage is one of four holiday apartments at Shallcross Hall, which is just outside Whaley Bridge. It used to be a farmhouse and dairy. You'll need a car.
It sleeps six, but that's across two bedrooms. Both are doubles, so you're talking about sharing beds or using put-up beds in the lounge. There's one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating, so expect it to be clean and functional rather than luxurious.
The main thing here is the view. You get a really good, open view of the countryside from the cottage. There's a shared lawned area with garden furniture and a BBQ if you want to sit outside.
The swimming pool is indoors and shared with the other guests in the other apartments. It's by the side of the main building. It's a good size for a splash about.
Facilities wise: there's a washing machine, WiFi, a TV, parking right there. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and a highchair. One well-behaved dog is allowed.
For a pint and some food, there's a local pub not too far away. Whaley Bridge has shops for basics.
You're right on the edge of the Peak District here. For walking, you can head straight up onto the hills. The Goyt Valley is very close for a drive or a stroll. Buxton is about a 20 minute drive, with its opera house and market. Chapel-en-le-Frith is about 10 minutes away. For a big day out, you can get to places like Castleton or Lyme Park within half an hour.
