Shallcross Hall Cottage - Goyt is one of four apartments on the old Shallcross Hall farm site. It’s in Whaley Bridge on the edge of the Peak District.
It sleeps eight, but there are three bedrooms. This means some of the beds are in the open-plan living space, which works for families but maybe less so for other groups. It’s a 3 Star place, so it’s clean and functional.
The cottage has its own patio and you share the large lawn and a BBQ area with the other apartments. The views are good all round.
There’s a shared indoor swimming pool on site. It’s sometimes closed for maintenance, so it’s best to ask before you book if that’s important to you.
Inside you’ve got two bathrooms, a washing machine, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There’s parking right outside. You can bring one dog.
The location is straightforward. You can walk into Whaley Bridge for a pub or the shops. For walking, you’re right by the Goyt Valley, or it’s a short drive to the Peak District National Park proper. Buxton is about ten minutes away by car.
If you’re looking for a day out, Chatsworth House is about half an hour’s drive. So is Alton Towers. For local history, you’ve got the National Trust’s Lyme Park even closer.
