I'm going to tell you about Big Skies in Pakefield, near Lowestoft. It's a detached cottage. It's got three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Sleeps five.
The rating is 4 Star, which is about right. It's well looked after. You've got a washing machine, wifi, bedding and towels are included. There's a travel cot and highchair if you need them. It's open plan downstairs.
Location is the main thing. It’s about a ten minute walk to the beach. There’s a pub at the end of the road that’s good for a drink. The kitchen is fine for cooking a holiday meal.
The thing about this area is you get a big sky over the sea. It’s flat, so you see a lot of it, especially at sunset. The beach is shingle and sand. It’s properly quiet most of the year.
Southwold is about twenty minutes’ drive south. That's where the Adnams brewery is, and the pier, and the coloured beach huts.
Aldeburgh is a bit further, maybe forty minutes. They're known for the fish and chips.
If you want a day out, Somerleyton Hall is nearby. Or you can get into the Norfolk Broads in about half an hour. It's good for boats and walking.
