Beachwood

Beachwood is a bungalow in Corton, a village just north of Lowestoft. It’s detached and sits right by the cliff edge in a little patch of woodland, so it’s quiet and private. You look straight out to sea.

It has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, so sleeps four. It’s got a 5 Star rating and feels quite new and well put together.

The main thing is outside. There’s a big deck that goes right up to the cliff fence, with a hot tub on it. The sea view from there is the whole point. It’s not a busy beach, even in summer. To get down there, you walk through the woods for a few minutes. It’s dog friendly all year.

Inside, it’s all open plan. The kitchen has everything you’d need. I leave tea, coffee and milk for when you arrive. There’s a dishwasher and a washing machine.

In Corton village, about a ten minute walk away, there’s a local pub that does food and a small shop. That shop also does newspapers and there’s a Chinese takeaway, but it’s cash only. For a bigger supermarket, you drive a few minutes towards Lowestoft.

Lowestoft is proper old-fashioned, with piers and family stuff on the seafront. Southwold, with its pier and lighthouse, is about 35 minutes south by car. Heading north, you’re close to the Suffolk and Norfolk border. The Broads start just outside Lowestoft at Oulton Broad. It’s a short drive to get onto the water.

Useful links for the area are the Broads Authority and the Visit Suffolk site.

Facilities wise, it has parking right outside, bedding and towels are included, and there's WiFi. Sorry, no pets.
