Hogbert's Hideaway is near Lowestoft, in Suffolk. It's a detached house on the edge of the Carlton and Oulton Marshes. The view is just fields and sky, no other buildings really.
It sleeps ten. Four bedrooms and three bathrooms, so there's enough space not to get in each other's way. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's well equipped and finished to a good standard. The entrance and main living area are all on the ground floor and there are no steps, so it's suitable for someone with limited mobility. The stairs inside to the bedrooms are normal.
There's a games room with a pool table and a separate cinema room with a big screen. The patio is a good size, with a table and a BBQ.
You can bring one dog. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside.
The property used to be the visitor centre for the Carlton Marshes nature reserve. The reserve starts at the garden gate. You can walk for miles on the trails. Suffolk Wildlife Trust Carlton Marshes has a map. Their centre is a few minutes walk away, they have a cafe and sometimes run events.
If you walk through the marshes the other way, you get to Oulton Broad. You can hire a day boat or try paddleboarding there. There are a few pubs and restaurants around the broad.
Lowestoft is about three miles away. It's a traditional seaside town with a beach and amusements. For a nicer beach, Southwold is about twenty minutes in the car. They've got the Adnams brewery and the pier there.
Within half an hour you can get to a few places. Africa Alive is a wildlife park just down the road. Pleasurewood Hills theme park is nearby too. For a good walk, Dunwich Heath and beach is about twenty-five minutes drive, or you can go to RSPB Minsmere. Aldeburgh is known for its fish sheds on the beach. Snape Maltings has concerts and shops. Norwich city centre, with the castle and cathedral, is about forty minutes.
