Hogbert's Hideaway is just outside Lowestoft. It was the visitor centre for the Carlton Marshes before we converted it. So the views over the reserve are pretty much uninterrupted. It feels private, but you're not remote.
It's a detached house and sleeps ten. Four bedrooms, three bathrooms. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped. One bathroom and a bedroom are on the ground floor, and the main entrance has level access.
Out the back there's a large patio with a barbecue. Inside, there's a games room. It's got table football and darts. Then there's the cinema room with the big screen. It's good for a film night.
The reserve is right on your doorstep. You can walk straight out onto the trails. If you head through the marshes, you'll get to Oulton Broad. You can hire boats or go paddle boarding there. The local pub is about five minutes walk away. It does food.
Lowestoft is three miles off for a traditional seaside day. Southwold is about twenty minutes in the car, past Africa Alive. For a longer walk, Dunwich Heath is half an hour away. Same for RSPB Minsmere and Aldeburgh.
Facilities: everything on the list is here. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, parking for three cars. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs. We leave a cot in one of the bedrooms if you need it.
