Florence Cottage

Florence Cottage is in Lowestoft, down in Pakefield village. It's an old fisherman's cottage that we've done up. It sits on a normal street, nothing fancy, but it's only about five minutes' walk to the beach.

It sleeps four people. Two bedrooms and one bathroom upstairs. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-equipped.

The living room and kitchen are open plan, which works well. There's a wood burner for the winter. The stairs are steep, they're typical for a cottage of this age.

You've got a little enclosed patio garden out the back. It gets the sun in the afternoon.

The beach is about 500 yards away. It's sandy with dunes and dogs are allowed on it all year. There's a shop and a restaurant a few minutes walk one way, and a pub even closer the other way.

Lowestoft is the most easterly point in the UK, so the sunrises are good if you're up early. Oulton Broad is close by if you want to get out on the water. It's where the Norfolk Broads start. You can hire day boats from there.

Southwold, with its pier and beach huts, is about a twenty minute drive south. Aldeburgh is a bit further, maybe forty minutes. If you like birdwatching, RSPB Minsmere is worth a trip.

For facilities, it's got most things: WiFi, a TV, washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking for one car on the drive. We accept one well-behaved dog.

If you're planning to explore the coast, the National Trust Suffolk Coast pages have good information.
