Arun Cottage

Arun Cottage is on a little raised footpath, just off the main street in Arundel. It's a small, terraced cottage right in the town. The way the downstairs is set out is quite clever: it's all open plan, with the living area at the front around the wood burner, then your dining table, and the kitchen at the back. There's a big serving hatch between the kitchen and dining space, which is handy.

It sleeps four in two bedrooms. Both have king-size beds. The front bedroom looks down onto the street, which can be interesting, and the back bedroom has a view over the rooftops towards the river. There's one bathroom upstairs with a shower over the bath. The stairs from the dining area up to the bedrooms are standard cottage stairs, so they're a bit steeper than modern ones.

Out the back through the kitchen is a walled courtyard patio. It gets the sun and is completely private, a nice spot for a coffee or a drink.

You can walk into the centre of Arundel in about five minutes. The castle sort of looms over everything, which is quite a sight. The town has some good places to eat and a few interesting shops. The Wetland Centre is just on the edge of town if you like that sort of thing.

For a walk, you can head straight up through the castle grounds into Arundel Park, or go along the river. The path past Swanbourne Lake and up towards the South Downs is popular. The Black Rabbit pub is a nice stop if you're walking by the river.

By car, you can be at the coast at Climping or Littlehampton in under fifteen minutes. Goodwood estate, with the racecourse and the events, is about half an hour's drive. Chichester is roughly twenty-five minutes away.

Facilities are all there: WiFi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot. One well-behaved dog is welcome. There's no dedicated parking, but on-street permits are provided.
