The Cottage is in West Burton, one of four villages right under the South Downs. It's a converted stable, so it's all on one level. That's quite handy.
It sleeps five. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms. One bedroom has a kingsize bed and its own shower. The other has a double and a single bed. Both have doors straight out to the patio. The main living space is in the middle, with high ceilings and big doors. It gets a lot of light. There's a wood burner for cooler evenings.
Outside, there's a patio with a barbecue. It faces west, so you get the afternoon and evening sun. The view is over open fields towards the South Downs.
You're right on the edge of the village, with footpaths starting almost from the door. Walking up onto the Downs is straightforward. If you'd rather drive up, you can park at Whiteways, which is a couple of miles away.
There are two pubs in the neighbouring villages, both within walking distance. They serve food and local ales.
Petworth is about four miles north. That's where Petworth House is. The house and the deer park are National Trust. The town has antique shops and tea rooms.
About two miles west, in Bignor, there's Bignor Roman Villa. It has some remarkable mosaic floors. It's a good wet-weather option.
For facilities, you've got parking, WiFi, a TV, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot if you need one. No pets, I'm afraid.
