The Timber Store
The Timber Store is a barn conversion in Hardham, West Sussex. It sleeps a lot of people, eighteen according to the book. It’s four bedrooms and three bathrooms, so it’s set up for big family groups or friends sharing. It’s a 4 Star place.
The main thing you should know is the space. The living area is all one big room, very tall ceilings with the beams. There’s a huge table for everyone to eat together. The kitchen’s got another big table for breakfast. It’s not fancy, it’s sturdy. The garden is good, completely private, with a proper brick BBQ.
The River Rother is at the bottom of the garden. You’ve got about half a mile of private fishing rights if that’s your thing. The footpath along it is part of the Rother Valley Way, so you can walk straight out from the door into the fields. You’re right in the South Downs National Park.
Locally, there’s a pub about half a mile away in Coldwaltham. The nearest shop and supermarkets are in Pulborough, a mile or so down the road. Pulborough station has trains to London Victoria, Gatwick, and Portsmouth.
Within a half hour drive you’ve got a few options. Arundel is about ten minutes. The castle is the main sight. Goodwood is about twenty minutes for the horse racing or the car events. If you want the coast, the beach at Littlehampton is the closest, but West Wittering is nicer and takes about half an hour. Chichester is also about thirty minutes for the theatre or shopping. For a day out, Petworth House or the RSPB at Pulborough Brooks are nearby.
