Westwood

Westwood is on Lombard Street in Petworth. It's a 17th century cottage, so the ceilings are low in places and the walls are a bit wonky. That's just how it is. You get in through a gate off the street, down a little passageway to the back.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. The kitchen's been done up recently, so it has a dishwasher and a washing machine, which is handy. The stairs are cottage stairs. They're fine, but watch your head on the way up.

There's a small living room with a TV. A door from there leads into a little snug room with two chairs. It's a quiet spot. That room leads into the second bedroom, which has twin beds.

Outside is a courtyard. It's enclosed, so it's safe for a dog or kids. There's a table and chairs out there, and a BBQ.

Petworth itself is nice to wander around. Plenty of antique shops and places to eat. The big thing here is Petworth House. It's a couple of minutes' walk from the cottage. The art collection is famous, and the deer park is good for a walk. You can get straight into the parkland from the town.

If you want to drive out, Goodwood is about ten miles south. That's for the motor circuit, the horse racing, or the golf. Chichester and Arundel are within half an hour. The south coast beaches, like West Wittering, are about a 30-minute drive away.

Facilities: all the bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. WiFi is there. One well-behaved dog is welcome. Parking is on the street; you can usually find a space nearby.
