The Mouse House is about as close to the South Downs as you can get without being inside the National Park itself. It's in West Chiltington, which is a proper Sussex village with a church, a shop, and a couple of pubs all within walking distance. It's on a working farm, so you'll see cows in the fields around. The cottage itself is what used to be the farm food store.
It's for two people. One bedroom, a shower room right off it, and a main living space with a decent kitchen. There are double doors that open onto a courtyard shared with a couple of other cottages, which is private from the main farmyard. There's a patio table and chairs out there.
A thing worth noting: it's all on one level. No stairs. You park right outside the door.
The village is handy. The shop and a pub are about a mile. You can walk over the fields from here, or drive into the South Downs in about five minutes. For a longer day out, Petworth and its big National Trust house are about twenty minutes' drive. Petworth House and Park. The RSPB reserve at Pulborough is even closer, maybe ten minutes. RSPB Pulborough Brooks.
It's a 4 Star place, which means it's comfortable and everything works. You get all the usual stuff: a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair if you need them.
One well-behaved dog is allowed. Please keep it downstairs.
