The Lodge
The Lodge is a detached house, but it's at the end of the owner's long drive. So it's private, but you'll see us come and go sometimes. The garden is yours and it looks out onto our fields.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. The rating is 5 Star, which basically means it's been checked to a high standard and has things like the dishwasher and good wifi. It's comfortable.
The stairs are a standard staircase. We've got a stairgate at the top.
There's a pub three quarters of a mile away in Goose Green. It serves food. The closest shop is about a mile and a half away in Ashington, which is a small village with a supermarket and a takeaway. Storrington, four miles away, has more: a proper butcher, baker, that sort of thing.
If you like walking, you're right on the edge of the South Downs. The South Downs National Park site has route ideas. The RSPB Pulborough Brooks nature reserve is very close. So is the Knepp rewilding project, which is interesting if you like to see that kind of thing.
Within about half an hour you've got a few big gardens and houses: Parham House, Leonardslee, Nymans, and Arundel Castle which is National Trust. Amberley Museum is good for a rainy day. There are several vineyards nearby too, like Nutbourne and Wiston.
Brighton is 17 miles away, so about half an hour in the car depending on traffic. That's where you go for the sea, the lanes, and everything else.
Facilities: pretty much everything on the list is here. Washing machine, dishwasher, cot, highchair, bedding and towels included. WiFi works fine. There's parking for two cars on the gravel by the Lodge. We allow up to two well-behaved dogs.
