House On The Brooks

House on the Brooks is near Ashington in West Sussex. It’s a big, single house built to look like an old Saxon hall. It sleeps fourteen people, which is a lot. There are four bedrooms and each one has its own bathroom. It has a 4 Star rating.

The setting is the main thing here. It’s in the South Downs National Park, right by old water meadows. You get long views over the fields. There are a lot of birds, dragonflies, that sort of thing. The River Rother runs along the side of the garden, and you have fishing rights for about half a mile of it.

The house was built by a local craftsman and the woodwork inside is quite something, with all the roof timbers showing. It feels solid. The bedrooms are each done to a different theme. They’ve all got TVs.

It’s really meant for a big group, like friends getting together or a family celebration. You can arrange for a caterer to come in if you want, you’d sort that out with the owner directly.

Outside of the house, you’re well placed for walks. The Rother Valley Walk starts nearby. Pulborough Brooks RSPB reserve is about two miles away for proper birdwatching. RSPB Pulborough Brooks is the link for that. There’s a local pub half a mile away.

For days out, Petworth House is about a twenty minute drive north. National Trust Petworth. Parham House and Gardens is about a fifteen minute drive. Goodwood, for the motor or horse racing events, is roughly half an hour by car. The coast at Littlehampton or Worthing is about 25 minutes away if you want a beach.

In terms of what’s here, it has parking, a garden with a patio and a BBQ, a washing machine, a dishwasher, WiFi, and a cot if you need one. All bedding and towels are included. No pets allowed.
