Drakes Roost
Drakes Roost is a charming little home situated in a quiet position in the picturesque village of Buckland Monachorum, located on the western fringes of Dartmoor.
This cosy, terraced cottage can comfortably accommodate up to three guests, whilst showcasing an enclosed suntrap, south facing garden, quality and vintage furnishings, easy parking, and a local pub just a few minutes’ walk.
As you enter the property you step into the living room, decorated in soft olive shades, feeling peaceful and relaxing. The deep leather sofa gives comfortable seating, whilst the electric wood burner provides a warming glow, the perfect place to relax and unwind after exploring the moors. This then leads through to the bright, well-equipped kitchen/dining room. Patio doors lead out into the private south-facing garden, which has an outdoor seating area and a charcoal barbecue. Eat al fresco on a warm evening or sit out with a glass of wine and enjoy this tranquil space. Head upstairs to discover the two beautiful bedrooms and the stylish bathroom which is fitted with a shower over the bath. The master bedroom is furnished with a double bed and the other room has a cosy single bed with views over the garden.
Buckland Monachorum is an attractive village near Yelverton situated on the River Tavy, on the western edge of Dartmoor. The village is famous for its association with Sir Francis Drake, who lived at Buckland Abbey just outside the town. Drake’s pew is within the church, with a carving of his ship, the Golden Hind, incised in the side panel. In the village is Garden House, an 8-acre modern garden that has been called ’The best in Britain’. Just a short drive away is the well known Buckland Abbey, a fantastic day out for all the family and the village of Yelverton is also within easy reach, offering a number of shops, cafes and restaurants. Surrounded by Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty with the Tamar Valley and Dartmoor National Park, there is no shortage of walking and cycling routes.
